It is important to clean your dentures after every meal.
If you wear a partial denture, remove the denture and clean it and your remaining teeth separately.
Clean your dentures with a soft toothbrush and a soapy detergent. Please do not use toothpaste as this is too abrasive and may abrade your denture.
Even with full dentures, you still need to take good care of your mouth. You can do this by brushing your gums, tongue and palate (roof of your mouth) with a soft toothbrush. This will remove plaque and stimulate circulation in the mouth.
You may choose to leave your dentures out at night to give your mouth and gums an opportunity to recover from the effort of supporting your dentures during the day.
Dentures should be stored in a glass of cool water. This allows your gums to breathe and remain healthy.
Feeling a little unwell? Always remember to remove your dentures if you are feeling nauseated – many dentures are lost this way!
